From the 25th to 26th of November 2024, the Winter School focusing on Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) and Disinfection By-Products (DBPs): Occurrence, Impact, and Elimination is set to open its doors in the World of Wine (WOW), Vila Nova de Gaia, with the stunning backdrop of Porto’s historic heart.
This premier event, organized by the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, University of Coimbra, and NOVA School of Science and Technology of NOVA University Lisbon, aims to address critical environmental challenges related to water safety and sustainability.
Supported by Rede NOR-WATER and the ZeroPollution4Water Cluster, the Winter School will present the latest advancements in research on the impact and strategies for the elimination of DBPs, CECs, and microbial contamination. The goal is to offer viable solutions for ensuring the provision of safe drinking water and alternative water sources for agricultural use.
Among the highlights of the event, you will learn insights from the intoDBP project by Maria José Farré, the project coordinator.
The Winter School’s comprehensive program includes sections devoted to PhD students, offering them the opportunity to present their research and interact with experts. Additionally, workshops on Publishing Perspectives, European Directives on Drinking Water, Wastewater Treatment and Reuse, and more, are designed to equip participants with the latest knowledge and skills in the field.
With over 200 expected participants, including PhD students, researchers, professors, and professionals from across Europe, the event promises ample networking opportunities. It will also feature an exhibition space showcasing the latest water treatment technologies and services from leading companies and utilities.
This Winter School represents a unique opportunity for those involved in environmental chemistry, environmental and chemical engineering, and related fields to enhance their knowledge, connect with peers, and contribute to global efforts in addressing water contamination issues.
