The intoDBP project, a leading initiative dedicated to protecting human health and the environment from Disinfection Byproducts (DBPs), is proud to announce its participation in the upcoming 4th Topical Webinar on Unconventional and Innovative Disinfection Technologies. The event, organized by the International Water Association (IWA) Specialist Group of Disinfection, will take place on January 22, 2026, at 1:30 PM CET.

As climate change and water scarcity intensify the need for safe water reuse, the development of “unconventional” disinfection methods has become a global priority. This webinar gathers world-class experts to discuss the chemistry, modeling, and practical implementation of peroxyacids—a promising alternative to traditional chlorine-based disinfection.

Representing the intoDBP projectDr. Domenico Santoro (Research Director at USP Technologies and Adjunct Professor at the University of Western Ontario) will deliver a keynote presentation titled: “Wastewater Disinfection with Peracids: Efficacy, Modeling and Process Control.” Dr. Santoro’s talk will highlight how intoDBP’s research is bridging the gap between advanced chemical processes and real-world digital control systems to minimize harmful byproduct formation while ensuring maximum pathogen inactivation.

The webinar features a distinguished panel of speakers:

  • Dr. Ching-Hua Huang (Georgia Institute of Technology, USA): Discussing DBP formation mechanisms and practical implications in halide-rich waters.
  • Dr. Domenico Santoro (USP Technologies/intoDBP): Presenting advanced modeling and process control for peracid-based disinfection.
  • Mrs. Outi Grönfors (Kemira, Finland): Exploring the use of performic acid for safe water bathing and agricultural reuse.

The event is free of charge and open to researchers, water utility managers, and environmental policy-makers. Registration Link.
