Following several years of intensive technical development and cross-partner collaboration, our sister project, ToDrinQ, is now prepared to reveal the core results of its research. The project will host a virtual Validation Workshop for its newly developed Design Support Tool on September 30, from 10:00 to 12:30 CET. This session provides a unique opportunity for the broader water community, including researchers, utility operators, and policymakers, to witness the first comprehensive live demonstration of the platform.
The primary objective of the session is to evaluate the practical utility of the tool within the framework of the revised Drinking Water Directive. Participants will be asked to provide structured feedback following a seventy-minute technical demonstration. This external review is a critical step in ensuring the tool effectively supports resilient, evidence-based treatment plant design and improves operational responses to modern water quality challenges.
Throughout its duration, ToDrinQ has focused its efforts on real-time sensing and monitoring technologies aimed at enhancing the scientific and technical protection of drinking water. The project specifically addresses the reduction of micropollutants, pathogenic microorganisms, and disinfection by-products. The Design Support Tool acts as the central interoperable decision-making platform for these innovations, designed to increase the overall robustness and adaptability of European water systems.
The workshop is structured to provide full transparency into the tool’s capabilities. The session will begin with an overview of the ToDrinQ project context followed by the live technical showcase. An interactive discussion period with the lead developers will allow for deeper inquiry before the session concludes with a guided validation questionnaire to capture expert insights for the final refinement of the tool.
