The Winter School on Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) and Disinfection By-Products (DBPs) is just around the corner, and participation is still open! Taking place on November 25-26, 2024, at WOW Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, this event is set to bring together leading experts and innovators to address the future challenges in the drinking water sector.
We are thrilled to announce that Maria José Farré, the intoDBP project coordinator and a renowned researcher from the Catalan Institute for Water Research, will be a featured speaker. On Monday, November 25, from 14:00 to 15:15, she will present “Targeted and Non-targeted Analysis of Disinfection Byproducts (DBPs) in Drinking Water.” Her session will delve into high-throughput methodologies for determining DBPs, CECs, PFAS, microplastics, antibiotic-resistant bacteria (ARB), and antibiotic-resistance genes (ARGs).
This Winter School event will provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of knowledge and the latest advances regarding the occurrence, impact, and elimination of DBPs, CECs, and microbial contamination. It aims to offer practical solutions for ensuring safe drinking water and sustainable water sources for agricultural production.
Why Attend?
Water quality is increasingly under threat from industrialization, agricultural activities, and climate change. The revised EU Drinking Water Directive, effective since January 2021, sets stringent standards to ensure the highest quality of drinking water across Europe. This event offers an invaluable opportunity to engage with these changes, explore innovative solutions, and participate in discussions on the future of water safety and sustainability.
