The 14th IWA Micropol & Ecohazard Conference 2026 is a leading international forum dedicated to micropollutants, disinfection by-products (DBPs), and emerging contaminants in water systems. Participation in this conference provides a targeted platform to disseminate key analytical developments from the intoDBP project to experts in drinking water treatment, monitoring and risk assessment.
Within the framework of this conference, a poster entitled “Sorptive Microextraction of Small DBPs in Drinking Water – Monitoring and Analytical Methods” will be presented. The contribution highlights a specific project output: the development and optimization of a sorptive microextraction-based method for the determination of small, highly polar organic DBPs in drinking water.
The method improves sensitivity, selectivity and sample preparation efficiency while reducing solvent consumption and analytical time. It addresses current challenges in monitoring low-molecular-weight DBPs that are difficult to quantify using conventional techniques. This work directly supports the intoDBP project objectives by enhancing analytical capability for comprehensive DBP monitoring and contributing to improved strategies for DBP control and safer drinking water management.
